While sitting in my castle, I wanted to make a list of vampire related sites and info. You know all very well by now that vampires are blood sucking creatures, they resemble noble people with a deathly white pallor and sometimes red eyes, with fangs, the ability to transform into bats or wolves, they reside in gothic walls and sleep during the day in coffins. They feed off the blood from the living and can live for thousands of years. Immortal un-dead are they, who can only be destroyed by a stake through the heart, sunlight and holy water. Sometimes they can be killed by a silver bullet (as with werewolves
too). You know all that. You should understand that this type of vampire is also fictitious and fabricated by movies and popular literature, that has invented a convincing myth. But alas there are real vampires but they're not exactly what you understand they are. What's said here is my opinion.

What is a real vampire?
A real vampire can be many things. They can be human with an affinity and love of the mythic vampire, they who wear gothic clothes, make-up and so on. There are also "sanguinarians", people who need to taste blood. Without it they'll become sick, or weaker. Blood is like medicine to them and not just food. There are psychic vampires who feed off the energy of others. These vampires are mentally intuned with certain people, and they can cause, either willingly or magically, the misery of an another to feed off their emotions. Some human vampires are like parasites. There are spiritual vampires that do exactly the same, that thrive on human suffering and are attracted to human blood. These beings aren't easily seen and they can resemble anythng from winged people to animals. Most of them though have one particular trait - glowing red eyes. The vampire, like the werewolf, is a "monster" and a "demon" acording to folklore. The vampire and werewolf have similar stories going back to ancient times. Vampires are aristocratic people with kingly origins, and so is the werewolf. The early pagan kings were werewolf-type "wolf head" warriors and vampires were also the ruling classes that shapeshifted and had powers. The connection is blood. The church sought to dethrone these "vampire-werewolf" (heathen) kings and then have been demonised ever since, referring to them as supernatural creatures. The vampire and werewolf were not just mortal kings and queens. They were literally the descendants of gods. The clue is that vampires are mythically immortal (as opposed to undead) and the werewolf is a shapeshifter (beserker) and of the warrior caste.
Are vampires afraid of crucifixes?
Real vampires aren't afraid of crucifixes. They aren't afraid of any symbol and its a myth that crosses harm vampires. Most human vampires were raised in Christian households and they reject the church. Some might still be Christian and wear crosses around their necks. Most people think the symbol of the church is an all-powerful entity, even though its grasped the majority of gullible people and embedded its tenticles within the State to control the souls of the masses. The church killed and slaughtered heathens and pagans for centuries to build its power and detsroy remnents of the past, and sometimes it dissolved pagan sites, ceromonies and other to keep the rural people happy. The sign of the cross is based on a pagan cross sign. The Celtic cross had a circle with a cross in the middle, an early crucifix. The cross symbol is based on much older pre-Christian symbols of sunwheels. The power of the crucifix would be from its pagan origin.
Do vampires live only at night?
Not all vampires are nocturnal. Human vampires need to work during the daylight. Human vampires only role-play at night or off-work hours. Real vampires don't catch fire in the sunlight either. The reason for this is because most real vampires are mortally human and its not possible for them to get hurt by the daylight unless someone suffers certain skin illnesses (and not all of them are vampires). Spiritual vampires exist at night as its the only time they're unseen and at night the human mind switches into a certain vulnerable mode. Some naturally "night" people are nocturnal and certain late night professionals train themselves to adapt to night but the natural human instinct of the masses is to fear the night. The idea of the nocturnal vampire isn't modern. In pre-historic times there were people that lived underground and avoided daylight. This is probably because it was during the Ice Age and the sun caused a brilliant white luminous snowy landscape that hurt the eyes. People stayed underground where it was dark and warm. Logically the mythic vampire should reside in an underground city as opposed to the harsh surface. The Summer season couldn't be a very comfortable time for them.
How can a vampire defend themselves?
There are also real vampire hunters... goodness knows what they have in mind. Some would literally kill a real life mythic vampire or werewolf if they met one. However they try to stick with their fantasies by using holy water and garlic. Now real vampires are mortal (sorry to disappoint you) and cannot react the same way as the mythic vampire of films and books unless some of them cannot stand garlic via allergies or something. To those that are closely similar to the mythic vampire (a sanguinarian or indeed both a sang and a nocturnal) needs to defend themselves against harassement. Some humans don't like garlic, werewolves don't like garlic. Garlic is a food ingrediant but its raw clove and root are quite reaky and gives off an unpleasent smell. A vampire needs not fear holy water... They call it "blessed by the church" but I call it contamination. Use counter effects that reject these things. When garlic is around to keep you away, carry insense, jasmine, rose water, alcohol, tobacco (smoke), flowers, perfumes and even oil. Against church-holy water rinse yourself with lotion, oil, maybe pure water for greater healing.
